We hunt in the Little Belt Mountains outside of Buffalo, MT. The permitted area is located on the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest.
The landscape consists of steep, rocky terrain to wide open spaces – perfect for tracking and spotting game. Every hunt has a guide and 1-2 other hunters. We’re up before the rooster crows to get to the right spot before the hunt begins after daybreak. We monitor the patterns of game, maximizing the hunter’s time and effort. We typically travel up to 20 miles with four wheelers and side-by-sides to get in position. We are able to stay out all day or take breaks at camp at the hunter’s discretion.
We are accessible by car and airplane. Great Falls, Bozeman, Billings, and Helena are the closest airports – we do not provide transport from the airport unless special arrangements are necessary. Most hunters find that driving and utilizing their own vehicles is easiest. Regardless of travel, transportation of the game is the hunter’s responsibility.
We require each hunter to arrive at the ranch by noon on the day before the scheduled hunt begins. We provide transportation from the ranch to the camp. We hunt out of a remote camp accessible by 4×4 vehicles. We stay in comfortable cabins with small heaters provided. We have a 15×20 tent with a wood stove where meals are cooked. The mess tent is accessible to each hunter any time of the day.
Timber Mountain supplies all food and prepares meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We supply water – other beverages are the responsibility of the hunter. We also have snacks available for the hunt.
Clothing and other hunting gear is the responsibility of the hunter. Please click below for a general supply list.
